György Dragomán: Sometimes it's difficult to stay in one story

At the first of HLO's Brody Lit Nites we were in discussion with György Dragomán about his book The White King and its recent adaptation for the screen. You can listen to the first half of the evening in our podcast, available here.

In our inaugural literary evening at the stunning Brody Studios, we talked to acclaimed Hungarian author György Dragomán about growing up in Ceausescu's Romania, about his happy days as a teenager, and the background to the stories in his book, The White King.

He also told us about the reception of the book abroad and the deep chords it struck as far away as Brazil, the process of writing and of translation, and even a little about his childhood forays into Soviet Socialist Realist literature.
